Coventry University operated multiple servers across three data centres on its main campus but faced growing challenges in maintaining the server rooms internally. The aging walls of the server rooms were not adequately sealed, leading to difficulties in maintaining proper air conditioning and fire suppression throughout the year, which put the security and protection of the servers at risk. The IT team recognized the need to explore alternative solutions for housing their servers in a dependable and scalable data centre. By opting for aql's colocation service, the University ensured that their servers are stored in a secure and adaptable environment that safeguards their data within an ISO-accredited facility, featuring enterprise-level intrusion detection and monitoring of millions of hardware and network metrics on a daily basis. Aql’s data centre also provides direct access to the Janet network through a high-capacity access point and serves as a connection point to the cloud, with established express routes to Microsoft Azure, aligning with the University’s IT strategy.
