I co-founded a company dedicated to enhancing the youth sports experience, understanding that coaches significantly influence athletes' development. Our mission is to support sports associations, organizations, and municipalities in implementing automated tools that coaches can utilize to create consistent practices. We aim to save time and help attract better coaches for our children. **OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE** What challenge were you addressing with AppIt Ventures? We needed to develop a cloud-based application for sports associations, along with a mobile app for coaches and parents. **SOLUTION** What was the extent of their involvement? We started with a discovery phase with AppIt Ventures, transitioning into an iterative development process that spanned several months. The team has worked on functional iterations of design mock-ups using Figma, and we are currently in the cloud development phase, moving towards mobile development shortly. AppIt Ventures is building our software from the ground up. Our cloud application will allow sports associations to categorize teams by skill level while developing a sports curriculum with input from subject matter experts. The app will automatically generate practice plans based on skill progression requirements for each sport, featuring video and text resources. Additionally, it includes a feature that lets coaches and parents provide feedback on athletes' performances, allowing sports organization administrators to analyze trends between parent and coach sentiments. The app will also pose questions for sentiment and qualitative feedback at the end of each practice. We've collaborated with Aspen Institute, which has a PhD in coaching, focusing on coaching concepts. Experts advised us to center practices around three or four key elements, and coaches can log these in the app. Our software aims to bring transparency to the coaching process, with users able to opt-in for notifications about additional skill sessions. This data can also help associations post job openings for coaches with particular skills. **TEAM COMPOSITION** What is the composition of the team? We collaborate with approximately six members from AppIt Ventures, including the owner, developers, a project manager, and an account executive. **HOW WE CONNECTED WITH APPIT VENTURES** How did you come to work with AppIt Ventures? We discovered AppIt Ventures through a Google search and interviewed multiple companies before choosing this team. The members, including the owner, are parents or coaches themselves, showing genuine interest in our project. The first team member we interacted with was very responsive and quickly displayed a personal understanding of our project, being transparent about their services and capabilities, unlike some other companies we spoke with. **INVESTMENT** How much have you invested in them? We have invested around $100,000 into this project. **ENGAGEMENT STATUS** What is the status of this engagement? Our collaboration with AppIt Ventures began in August 2023 and is currently ongoing. **RESULTS & FEEDBACK** What evidence supports the impact of the engagement? The quality of AppIt Ventures' work is exceptional. Their team brings much creativity and collaboration to this project, delivering ideas we hadn’t even conceived. **PROJECT MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE** How did AppIt Ventures perform from a project management perspective? AppIt Ventures consistently delivers work on time and within budget. We did change the project's scope once, requiring a change order, but overall, the team has adhered to deadlines. They are very responsive through meetings, phone calls, and emails, and we also utilize Trello and Figma for collaboration. **AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT** Are there any areas where they could improve? AppIt Ventures could enhance their management of our expectations regarding design work. We have already raised this with the team, as seeing older designs on Figma alongside new ones can be confusing. However, this was a minor issue given the overall engagement. **ADVICE FOR FUTURE CLIENTS** What guidance would you offer future clients? I recommend spending ample time defining your project's goals and budget upfront before engaging with AppIt Ventures, as software development can be costly.
