Within a span of less than three months, we assisted Lapse in launching a scalable application that achieved the top spot in the UK and US App Stores and secured $12.5 million in funding. Lapse is an innovative social media platform that enables users to create groups for taking photos on the go. The two founders sought our expertise after learning about the scalability benefits of Serverless technology. Our initial consulting engagement resulted in a detailed architectural roadmap for their minimum viable product (MVP) and future development. Startups typically encounter two significant obstacles: securing funding and achieving sustainable growth. Serverless architectures facilitate rapid expansion at a low cost by allowing businesses to pay only for what they consume. This functionality is especially beneficial for platforms with fluctuating usage patterns, like those experiencing high traffic spikes on weekends. With Serverless, Lapse was able to swiftly implement new features and deploy them multiple times per day, all while maintaining a lean engineering team of fewer than five people, effectively managing large-scale traffic.

High Traffic Serverless Esports Platform

Gamercraft

Gamercraft needed to handle significant traffic surges during major Esports tournaments. Aleios assisted Gamercraft in recognizing that a Serverless architecture on AWS was the best choice for their MVP and future needs. This Serverless solution enabled Gamercraft to rapidly respond to market demands while also ensuring their platform was ready for larger tournaments. Aleios collaborated with Gamercraft to develop their initial MVP, which was launched to actual users in just 14 weeks. This process validated their product hypotheses and showcased the economic and performance benefits of a Serverless structure. Our AWS Serverless Hero, Ben Ellerby, conducted workshops with Gamercraft at their New York offices, aligning the business domain with the technical architecture through Domain-Driven Design techniques.

Catalysing planet-saving action with Serverless

Pinwheel

Pinwheel specializes in recognizing environmental recovery initiatives that can drive meaningful change. To further this goal, Pinwheel aimed to create a platform for large-scale events that would enhance awareness and participation in sustainability initiatives by making funding more accessible. They collaborated with aleios to develop a scalable, dependable, and versatile voting platform for the event. The architecture designed by aleios is a fully white-label solution, allowing the same adaptable platform to be utilized for future events. The project was completed in only four weeks, with an aleios team collaborating directly with Pinwheel's Head of Engineering to create the backend infrastructure and frontend voting interface using a completely Serverless approach. This Serverless model provided fast development speed, minimal operational overhead, and dynamic scalability to accommodate peak traffic during the major event. Additionally, the team took the opportunity to transition Pinwheel to a fully Headless CMS, giving the marketing team a self-service interface for event creation and contributing to the broader modernization of Pinwheel's technical framework.
