Afrihost is more than just a tale of products, strategies, or market dominance; it is a narrative of friendship and perseverance. Founded by best friends Gian Visser, Brendan Armstrong, and Peter Meintjes, Afrihost emerged from their vision of creating a company unburdened by corporate constraints, dedicated to providing exceptional service and outstanding products. They eventually welcomed Greg Payne into their venture, whose extensive experience and business acumen brought a vital mix of strategy and innovation, contributing to Afrihost's remarkable success today. Visser, Armstrong, and Meintjes grew up together, having attended the same school. Although they pursued different academic paths, they shared a deep enthusiasm for technology and the Internet. After starting their individual careers, they maintained their close friendship and began experimenting with Linux Web Hosting in the late 90s. After launching their own small startups, they united their efforts to create Afrihost, a Web Hosting and IT services firm that embodies their commitment to service and product quality—prioritizing customer and employee satisfaction over profit, a stance that had often put them at odds with previous corporate employers.
