Busy Bees - Digital learning platform
Busy Bees is a leading and well-respected childcare provider dedicated to giving all children in their care a strong start in life. With 10,000 practitioners in the UK, they support over 40,000 children daily. The company envisioned a tool to enhance their learning and development offering, which led to the creation of UP—an interactive digital platform aimed at maximizing the potential of parents, practitioners, and children. After having difficulty finding the right partner to actualize their vision, Busy Bees turned to 383. Unlike previous suppliers who only offered standard solutions with their logo, Busy Bees sought a customized experience that truly reflected their brand and maintained their high standards of care. To achieve this, we recognized the importance of deeply understanding the business and its users. We commenced the project with an immersion session, conducting interviews and focus groups with stakeholders, nursery managers, practitioners, and parents. Utilizing the Jobs to be Done framework, we identified user needs, challenges, and concerns, which clarified what issues the platform would address. We then crafted a value proposition and outlined a product roadmap for UP, organizing features into development stages and employing an agile process with iterative design and product sprints. The final UP platform includes a web application, native applications, and an API, offering a comprehensive library of audio, video, and interactive content for both parents and practitioners. Additionally, a custom, secure content management system enables Busy Bees to oversee and add new content and features. Most importantly, this platform provides Busy Bees with a scalable, future-oriented solution suitable for international expansion.
