AI based predictive model for biotech startup
Overview: Respindle, a biotech startup, has partnered with 044.ai lab to develop cutting-edge AI technology that can predict the chances of oocyte aneuploidy. This innovation has the potential to significantly improve reproductive success for millions of women around the world. Problem: As women age, the quality of their eggs diminishes, which raises the likelihood of chromosomal abnormalities in embryos. Women who are 35 years or older face an increased risk of embryo aneuploidy, potentially leading to negative pregnancy outcomes such as stillbirth, miscarriage, and genetic conditions like Down syndrome. Unfortunately, the current diagnostic methods for identifying aneuploidy are costly and often inaccessible, especially in developing nations. This lack of access to diagnostic testing may prevent many women from obtaining essential information, thus heightening their risk of experiencing adverse pregnancy results. Solution: We have developed an AI technology that predicts oocyte aneuploidy through an easy-to-use web interface designed for assisted reproduction clinics. It conducts a non-invasive visual analysis of an oocyte image under polarized light. Our affordable solution aims to enable approximately 1.5 million women each year to choose healthier oocytes, enhancing care and reducing pregnancy risks. Results: Our AI technology has shown encouraging preliminary results and is currently in the preclinical testing phase, which is anticipated to finish by 2024. Following regulatory approval, it will be accessible in assisted reproduction clinics globally, helping more women achieve better reproductive outcomes and minimizing adverse pregnancy effects associated with advanced maternal age.
