Global Outbound Media for the Pioneer of Inbound

HubSpot

Carbon collaborated with HubSpot to create a global media strategy aimed at boosting brand awareness and attracting business decision-makers, particularly by targeting larger enterprise-level organizations instead of just small and midsize businesses. We achieved this through a data-driven methodology that incorporated brand data, second-party data from Resonate, and tailored research to guide our efforts. Our goal was to capture the attention of upmarket buyers with compelling brand and product narratives presented in a memorable manner. Our media strategy included launching HubSpot's inaugural global brand campaign featuring "Customer Success Stories," which showcased how HubSpot supports its customers in a playful way using pirate-themed creative and featuring Kathryn Hahn along with real and fictional customer testimonials. The media strategy encompassed social media, YouTube, OTT/Roku, broadcast TV, as well as programmatic advertising, out-of-home advertising, and large-scale building murals. Notable media executions included ferry wraps with pirate ship designs and a Fast Company cover wrap for "Pirate of the Year," which was also included in the TV spot. Under Carbon's management, HubSpot's customer base tripled, and brand awareness globally saw a double-digit increase.

Building an E-commerce Engine for a Storied Brand

Rockport

By leveraging our unique acquisition and growth strategy, we developed a highly effective revenue-generating system that more than doubled Rockport’s top-line revenue within three years. Carbon created a comprehensive funnel strategy, utilizing various channels such as social media, search, programmatic advertising, and shopping to generate millions in additional revenue. Initially, we prioritized acquiring new customers at the lowest possible cost while fine-tuning Rockport's sales funnel to respond to changes in data privacy regulations. As traditional audience targeting methods became less effective, we introduced innovative approaches to sustain growth and efficiency. The COVID-19 pandemic created additional hurdles, significantly impacting in-store sales and Rockport’s wholesale operations. However, under Carbon’s guidance, the e-commerce division prospered, serving as a crucial support during this challenging period. When Rockport filed for bankruptcy in May 2023, its e-commerce segment remained a key point of interest for potential buyers. Throughout this challenging time, Carbon consistently delivered strong performance, prioritizing sustainable growth. In September 2023, Rockport was acquired by Authentic Brands Group as part of Marc Fisher Footwear, and Carbon continued to serve as Rockport’s primary e-commerce agency, fostering growth within the ABG framework.

Inventing the Future of the Brand

UFP Technologies, Inc.

In 2019, UFP Medical became a key area of focus for UFP Technology's business strategy. While the business had a presence on the corporate website that highlighted the practical benefits of partnering with UFP, it lacked a unique identity and an engaging narrative for customers. Through both quantitative and qualitative research, Carbon pinpointed that speed to market, cost efficiency, and risk reduction were the most important criteria for UFP Medical’s potential clients when considering outsourced partnerships. These clients could be looking for comprehensive services, a specialized partner for design, development, or manufacturing, or particular materials or processes, necessitating a brand that could appeal to a wide range of prospects. We streamlined the name to UFP MedTech, positioning the brand as the definitive solution for single-use and single-patient medical devices. The newly created tagline, “On the Pulse of Innovation,” emphasizes UFP MedTech’s commitment to leading industry solutions and collaborating closely with customers throughout the process. To advance the brand's development for UFP Technology and its other divisions, we conducted primary research with existing and potential clients and organized brand workshops with the client team. This research informed a new brand architecture that shifted the focus from eight areas to a branded house model, incorporating two sub-brands: UFP MedTech and a new division/brand to encompass all other markets. Furthermore, the brand positioning statement was updated to appeal to a wider audience of innovators and problem solvers, with core brand pillars that highlighted the most distinctive and relevant features for prospective customers.
